The FLFSPS, located in the frontier, greatly resembles the design of the MacIntosh Forts (25 M) AF. The group of seven observation posts was built in Hong Kong between 1949 and 1953 strategically at the China borders against illegal immigrants. However, it was once painted in a dark green colour, which was similar to the Macintosh Forts.

FLFSPS is a 3-storey high building. Its strategic location at the top of a hill allowed the policemen to monitor Deep Bay. The balcony on 1/F also provided an unobstructed view overlooking the village downhill. Alterations were carried out in different years in the past to suit the evolving needs and services the station had to provide. In the 1970s, a control tower and two turrets/ scout towers on the roof were added; likewise, the defensive window shutters and frames are believed to have been constructed in 1974. In the 1980s, a barrack and night duty room were added on another original flat roof on 1/F. It is believed that the enhanced defence and observation features were necessary to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing the border and then staying in Hong Kong.

Having a prominent location and with the two scout towers projecting out into the skyline, the police station became a landmark of the district, which is well-known within the local community.
