The revitalization of the Grade 3 historic building into a guide dog training and education centre will well preserve the site in a way that transcends its historic and architectural values while the Academy will deliver services of enhanced social values.

Preservation of the facades of the historic building will be of primary importance through every possible effort, as the exterior of the building gives one example of civil architecture of the period with simple and functional design to suit its use. The original façades will be left generally unaltered with no major external additions. The design of the changes to the facades, if any, will be minor, respectful to the original architectural design intention and compatible with the age and character of the buildings. The original facades will be repaired, rendered and repainted with a reversible paint system. Any fixed signage will match the age and character of the exterior of the building.
