2018年7月5日，香港導盲犬學苑藉第五期「活化歷史建築伙伴計劃」（簡稱「活化計劃」），將前流浮山警署活化成香港導盲犬學苑。

 

香港導盲犬學苑將繁殖及訓練導盲犬，為視障人士提供服務。另外，學苑亦會訓練輔助治療犬，為有需要人士，如自閉症兒童或有溝通障礙人士提供輔助治療服務。

 

訪客亦可以透過欣賞展覽及導賞，深入了解前流浮山警署的歷史及建築特色，以及流浮山養蠔和漁業的發展。

 

香港導盲犬學苑希望透過導盲犬本地繁殖及舉辦導盲犬訓練導師課程，實現本地導盲犬服務的長遠發展；並透過公眾教育，增加社會對導盲犬及視障人士的認識和關注。

 

On July 5, 2018, the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association was selected to transform the heritage site of the Former Lau Fau Shan Police Station into the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Academy, under Batch 5 of the "Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme" (Revitalisation Scheme).

The Academy will provide services to the visually impaired through breeding and training guide dogs. Some dogs will be trained as Animal Assisted Intervention dogs, providing therapy for those in need, such as children with autism or people with communicative disorders.

 

Visitors can also learn more about the history and architectural merit of the police station, as well as the development of oyster farming and the fisheries industry in the Lau Fau Shan area through different displays and guided tours. 

 

The Hong Kong Guide Dogs Academy hopes to achieve further development of local guide dog services through local breeding programs and hosting guide dog instructor training courses. We hope to simultaneously raise public awareness on guide dogs and the visually impaired through public education.
